The Trophy
SERVICE. Impact. Inspiration.
Established in 2005, The Wuerffel Trophy honors college football athletes who are serving others, while also achieving greatness on the football field and in the classroom. As part of the National Football Federation’s Collegiate Awards, The Wuerffel Trophy was the first major award honoring the character of service to others.
MISSION
The Wuerffel Trophy was founded to honor college football players who serve others, celebrate their impact, and inspire greater community service in the world.

The Nominations
Recipient Considerations

Community Service
Sustained, measurable and documented community service to others in need
Verification by a university contact (Sports Information Directors)
Community service may be local, statewide, national or international

Academic
GPA above 3.0 preferred
Additional weight may be given based upon college, major field of study, etc.

Athletic

Nominations: Close October 16, 2023
The nomination period for the 2023 Wuerffel Trophy begins on August 1 and extends through October 14, 2023. Nominations must be submitted by FBS Sports Information/Media Relations staff to be considered. No public nominations can be accepted. Wuerffel Trophy Presentation
Presentation of the 2023 Wuerffel Trophy is anticipated to be made at the Destin/Fort Walton Beach Convention Center during 55th Annual All Sports Association Awards Banquet in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida
We are proud to work in harmony with the All Sports Association to present the Wuerffel Trophy at the Annual All Sports Banquet held every February in Florida. The award is presented to honor college football players who serve others, celebrate their positive impact on society, and inspire greater service in the world.
Keynote speakers have included Bo Jackson, Tim Tebow, Nick Saban, Deion Sanders, Bobby Bowden and Archie Manning.
The All Sports Association‘s primary mission is to provide contribution of time to raise money for local youth oriented non-profit sports organizations. Through the proceeds from the annual banquet, the dues paying volunteer group helps fund numerous charitable causes including the Boys and Girls Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Special Olympics. We are proud to present the Wuerffel Trophy during the ASA annual banquet.
