The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy is presented to the FBS player who best combines exemplary community service with leadership achievement on and off the field. The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team is comprised of 22 college football student-athletes and one honorary head coach who make outstanding contributions in the areas of volunteerism and civic involvement, 11 of which are FBS players. The Wuerffel Foundation partnered with Allstate and the AFCA in 2024 to combine these two prestigious college football community service awards into one esteemed program. 

The 11 FBS members of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team are named Semifinalists for the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy. From there, the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy National Selection Committee selects the three finalists for the award and then one recipient. The recipient of the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy serves as the captain of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. 

Each FBS program is assigned an Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Representative who serves as a resource throughout the nomination process. Nominations open annually in May. SIDs submit their program’s nominee through the NCFAA Vault.

Candidates should embody the true spirit of teamwork and giving back through commendable acts of kindness. They should be actively involved with charitable organizations, service groups and/or exhibit extraordinary devotion to a personal cause in their lives. Although there may be exceptions, it is suggested that student-athlete nominees meet the following criteria: 

• Upcoming junior or senior for the season 
• Contribute significantly on and off the field to his team 
• Demonstrate outstanding character and dedication in the classroom 
• Committed to volunteerism by donating time and energy to serve others
• Free of any felony charges or criminal activity

• Has not been a previous member of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team*

*With the exception of former Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Finalists. Previous Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Finalists are eligible for a repeat nomination.
